The Parade, Coniston Road, Patchway, South Glos, BS34 5TF
About the practice
Coniston Medical Practice is situated in Patchway on the northern edge of the city, approximately 5 minutes from the M4/M5 junction. The practice was built in 1994 and was later extended to house a pharmacy on the ground floor and further administrative space on the first floor. The practice has recently been refurbished, adding an additional clinical room, phlebotomy room and clinical hub.
The Practice is part of The Stokes PCN, alongside Concord Medical Centre, Stoke Gifford Medical Centre, and Bradley Stoke Medical Practice.
Coniston Medical Practice uses Ask My GP as it’s access model, with approximately 80% of patients able to access the on-line system and log their requests themselves. All other patients are added to Ask my GP by our reception team following a conversation with the patient over the phone. The practice has a good number of same day GP appointments available, and has an experienced nursing team, who also see minor illness and chronic disease management.
Working environment, value and cultures
Our purpose is to provide patients registered with the practice with personal health care of high quality and to seek continuous improvement on the health status of the practice population overall. We aim to achieve this by developing and maintaining a happy, sound, family centred practice which is responsive to people’s needs and expectations and which reflects whenever possible the latest advances in Primary Health Care.
What we offer
All requests for flexible working are given consideration the practice and a number of staff work part-time.
The practice has policies that cover maternity, paternity, shared parental and adoption leave, and these are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The practice offers induction plans to all new-starters, allowing them time to embed into the team.
Team members are supported whatever their personal circumstances and the practice will always be as flexible as possible to accommodate individual’s needs.
Learning and development
Coniston Medical Practice is a training practice with two GP trainers. The team is also supported with their individual learning plans and personal development plans.
Our patients
The practice population lives mainly in the Patchway, Little Stoke, Bradley Stoke, Stoke Gifford and Filton areas. A high proportion of the practice population consists of families with young children. There are areas of deprivation, mostly in the Patchway and Filton areas and both Patchway and Filton are designated Priority Neighbourhood Areas in South Gloucestershire.
The team at Coniston are fully committed to improving the service
